Junior Duke Programme

TPS has embraced the ‘Junior Duke’ programme, an awards scheme run by Capable Kids which sees children learning a range of age appropriate skills in a similar vein to the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The scheme aims to teach independence and encourage motivation as well giving the pupils a chance to learn new and practical skills. We hold a ‘Junior Duke Week’ in February, with staff and parent volunteers running a variety of workshops, including teaching knot-tying, gardening, puncture repair, website design and first aid from Reception to Year 6. We hope that learning these new skills will benefit the pupils and we look forward to presenting awards later in the year to those that have completed this programme.
