Book Week 2018

What a fantastic start we have had to our 2018 Book Week!

The big freeze didn’t stop the children from going all out with their book inspired costumes on Monday, a huge thank you to all of those parents and carers at home who helped the children to fully embrace the dressing up. There was an impossible task of choosing an overall winner in each class, which will be announced in Friday’s celebration assembly!

Author visits

We had a wonderful visit in Pre-prep from Tracey Corderoy, the author of the hugely popular Shifty McGifty books. She entertained staff and pupils alike reading her stories, giving us a glimpse of how she finds inspiration and bringing fantastic themed crafts for each year group.

We have also been fortunate enough to have a visit from Lotte Moore, a World War II evacuee and author of children’s stories. She amazed the children in Year 1 and Year 6 with incredible stories of life during the war, evacuation, rationing and bombings during WWII.

We are very much looking forward to continuing our celebration of books by welcoming Matt Dickinson into school on Tuesday next week to talk to the Prep school about his Everest adventures and series of novels, The Everest Files trilogy.
