Headmaster’s Update
With so many nations celebrating VE Day yesterday, it has been an opportune time to reflect on the vital significance of this key moment in history precisely 80 years ago. At TPS, this was marked by a special radio show hosted by our Head of History, Mr Howorth, on Tuesday, featuring readings, poems and reflections with our Year 8 boys on broadcasting duties. It was certainly a mature and moving affair a wonderful lesson for the school community, allied with our special silence at noon yesterday.
Mrs Lintin and 5M delivered a first-class assembly to the school on Wednesday, focusing on our school values with the aim for us all to be ‘Calm’, ‘Courageous’, ‘Considerate’ and ‘Courteous’ and comparing TPS to an imaginary school where these values were certainly not in evidence. The children were superb, wowing the audience with some clever dramatic elements, poems and, surely, a new school anthem capturing our four Cs: ‘We are the Children of TPS…’ That same day, we were delighted that our Year 5 mathematicians travelled with Mrs Clough to take part in the Hampton School Maths Wizards event, with Jessica, Yu-Xuan, Freddie, Edward, Jack, Thomas, Logan and Nils forming two top teams to solve a host of mind-bending problems, working superbly in their teams and showing excellent perseverance. Well done indeed!
For those keen to continue exploring and developing their mathematical talents, see below a link to Hampton School’s online Maths Wizard Challenge – a fun way for pupils to flex their problem-solving muscles! New Wizard puzzles are posted each week with answers and solutions provided the following week. Maths Wizard Challenge
At TPS, it was also wonderful to see the Class Partnerships programme continue on Thursday morning, with reading activities, board games, sports and nature focused outdoor sessions all part of the fun. These opportunities are key to building our community and giving the senior pupils opportunities to be role-models for their younger friends.

SEEN charity sponsored swim event at Hampton Pool
We are delighted to work with Nel Holland, from SEEN to deliver our Relationships and Sex Education to Year 7 and Year 8. They educate young people to be prepared and equipped for the changes that adolescence brings, by empowering them with knowledge and awareness that they can use and share to live happy, healthy lives. Their sessions are delivered in an open, interactive environment, allowing our boys to feel free to participate, question and learn. (https://www.seen.charity/what-we-do/educate/)
