Headmaster’s Update
Welcome back!
It’s been such a delight to see the staff and children return to school this week, especially with us welcoming so many new starters. There’s such a lovely buzz of excitement with the children catching up with their friends and showing eagerness to embrace the experiences of being in a new year group.
We’ve very much enjoyed welcoming three new members of staff to TPS this week, including Mrs Susannah Richards (Head of Modern Languages), Mr Alex Mackula (French) and Mrs Claire Harris (Head of Music), whilst welcoming back Miss Charlotte Chesney (Reception) from her maternity leave.
Our first assembly this term focused on the lessons we can learn from new experiences over the holidays and that ‘change’ can be challenging but is also a positive concept, helping us learn more about ourselves and others. We focused on the school values, as we all aspire to be: ‘Courteous’, ‘Considerate’, ‘Calm’ and ‘Courageous’ in the year ahead. During this first half of the Autumn Term, our whole school key focus is to be ‘Considerate’ in all our actions, truly putting others first. This is especially important at TPS and should help ensure all the new children and teachers have the best possible start!
Our new Head of Music, Mrs Harris was delighted to host a really successful hands-on music workshop on Wednesday this week, where the children had the opportunity to try new instruments and meet members of our talented peripatetic music teaching team. It was wonderful to see so much interest; if you are keen to find out more about the instrumental music lessons programme, please contact Mrs Harris via: charris@twickenhamprep.co.uk
Looking forwards, please note that next week sees us host a variety of welcome events from Year 1 up to Year 8, so do join us to attend the briefings in the evenings; a reminder too that the extra-curricular clubs programme starts in another week’s time, on Monday 15th September, after the busy run of welcome meetings have all taken place.
Oliver Barrett, Headmaster
