    Headmaster’s Update

    Welcome back everyone!

It’s been a tremendously uplifting start to the new school year this week, firstly greeting colleagues for our packed INSET programme, planning for the term ahead, and secondly the joy of witnessing the children arrive on Thursday morning, full of excitement at the prospect of new beginnings and seeing their friends. It was especially poignant to welcome our new Year 7 cohort, which for the first time includes a contingent of girls, taking the school to a new era of co-education all the way through – a proud moment for the school.

Indeed, on the first day of the term we witnessed another first at TPS, with the new 3G pitch laid at Hampton and Richmond Football Club seeing our Senior Prep girls and boys benefit from the amazing opportunity to train and play in such inspiring surroundings.  This development is a very significant and exciting one for TPS sport and we look forward to developing our partnership with the club in the coming months.

In other news, I was delighted to receive a letter of thanks and certificate from the ‘Fair Start’ charity this week, marking the contribution made by many TPS families and the school through book donations to support refurbishments and stocking of books locally.  Over 360 books were donated and Fair Start will use these as part of a project in a school library in Kingston later this year.  Thank you to everyone who helped with the project and, of course, to Mrs Haywood for overseeing the donations.

Looking forwards, I’d like to share news of a charitable event due to take place later this month, with the opportunity for TPS families and staff to participate in the ‘Elmbridge Together Fun Run’, an event hosted by the new Mayor of Elmbridge, Judy Sarsby, with 5K and children’s fun run events in aid of Elmbridge CAN and the Mayor’s designated charities. The event will take place on Sunday 20th September in Walton-on-Thames, starting and finishing at the Xcel Sports Hub centre, where we host our senior sports day each year.  Please see here a link to find out more about this great local family event: Elmbridge Together Fun Run | Sport Systems

Finally, next week please do remember to diarise attendance at our welcome meeting events, with presentations for Year 1 – Year 8 during the evenings. It’s a great way to meet the teaching staff and to address any questions you might have about academic, pastoral and practical matters.
