Weekly Bulletin 3rd October 2025

This week:

    Headmaster’s Update

The past fortnight has been a wonderful celebration of a whole host of opportunities on offer at TPS, which the children and staff have embraced wholeheartedly. This week I want to focus on some sporting highlights, with so many teams taking part successfully in fixtures and enjoying healthy competition.

Indeed, the sporting calendar has seen a packed schedule, including our girls taking part very successfully in the Aquathlon event at Guildford High School, with Tabitha winning her category, and a number of hockey and netball fixtures too. Our superstar U11 netball girls finished a very creditable 4th at the Newland House tournament and the girls also performed superbly at recent hockey tournaments at both Hoebridge and Danes Hill, finishing in 6th and 5th places respectively. We are also very proud of the U10 team who took part in a very successful netball tournament at Epsom College in sunny conditions.

Our boys have been playing in football fixtures and there has been lots to celebrate this week across the age groups. The U8 boys’ team travelled to Surbiton for their first competitive fixtures representing TPS and finishing second in their group, before losing in the semi-final of the plate competition. I must make special mention of the U10 boys’ team, who shone at our own tournament at Kempton last week, competing in a round-robin of eight teams. With the table finely poised, the boys won their last three matches to secure the trophy! Well done also to the U10 B team for finishing 2nd in the B tournament, and the C team for their great effort in securing two hard-fought draws. To prove their dominance, our U10 A boys went on to win the tournament at St George’s the following Saturday, beating Bishopsgate 1-0 in the final.

Away from the sporting domain, to mark European Day of Languages, held this year on the 26th September, we’ve been delighted to welcome several parent visitors who shared stories about their native language and culture from a range of countries including Bulgaria, Moldova, Norway, French Canada and Egypt. From learning greetings in different languages, to exploring customs from across Europe and beyond, to even trying some brunost (Norwegian brown cheese), this was a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to appreciate the richness of the languages spoken within our school community and the day was a joyful reminder of the importance of language in connecting us all. Thank you to all our parents and to Mrs Richards for kindly helping us to truly celebrate language learning!

Over the past week, we’ve finalised the appointments for the Positions of Responsibility at TPS for the forthcoming year. The children have been incredibly impressive, taking part in interviews and group assessments to determine the appointments, exploring the key concepts of leadership and service. Please see below the appointments for each of the roles and congratulations to all the children on their achievements:
