Headmaster’s Update
If ever there has been a week at TPS to celebrate learning beyond the classroom it’s been this one! As a keen cyclist, I was delighted to see the Year 6 girls and boys embarking on their cycling training out on the playground and local roads, though I know they had to brave all weathers through the week; it’s certainly a true picture of cycling in the UK! Our thanks go to the super team of volunteers from Richmond who help continue to help generations of young people to travel safely.
Our cyclists might notice on their travels the preponderance of historical ‘blue plaques’ in the local area, with at least six within just a short distance of the school. In our whole school assembly, we looked at why Hampton is steeped in national historical importance with William Ewart’s and John Beard’s plaque at Hampton library, the former being the founder of the blue plaque scheme. Elsewhere, look out for David Garrick’s plaque just outside his villa, opposite Molesey Hurst, supposedly one of the first places golf was played outside Scotland and the scene of a famous trick shot! Closer to Hampton Court, you can find plaques to celebrate Suffragette Princess Sophia Duleep Singh, a Red Cross nurse, Sir Christopher Wren, Britain’s greatest architect, and even Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, landscape gardener extraordinaire. I am told that Alan Turing’s plaque can also be found close to school – see if you can find it on your travels!
Back at school, Mrs Kidson’s Junior Duke Week has been a fantastic success, seeing regular club activities replaced with a series of workshops organised and run by teachers and parents to teach the children important life skills. Activities have included: knot tying; car washing; world crafts; CPR; first aid; puncture repair; website design; clothes handwashing; skipping; learning about the world and even flags! I know the children had great fun taking part and developing their skills and knowledge in such a wide array of activities. Next week, we are very much looking forward to all the excitement of Book Week. Watch this space!

World Book Day Character Dress-up
We are excited to celebrate World Book Day with our annual dress-up day on Thursday 6th of March, and we would love to see all children take part!
This year, children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character and bring the book into school to share with their class.
To ensure a fun and comfortable day, please make sure that costumes are warm and suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities, including playtime.
We will be awarding prizes and commendations in every year group for the most original and creative costumes that show real effort and enthusiasm!
We can’t wait to see all the fantastic costumes and celebrate a love of reading together!
