Headmaster’s Update
Bonne Super Journée Française à tous!
The culmination of this week has seen us celebrate language learning at TPS, with Emilie Woodrow from the Primary Languages Network visiting us on ‘Super French Day’ to inspire language learning and mark European Language Day through assemblies, workshops, quizzes and the chance to learn some traditional French games! Language learning is a great strength at TPS, with French, Spanish, Latin and even Greek taught through the year groups. Earlier in the week, it was a treat to welcome the younger children to an assembly which focused on having a Growth Mindset through using perseverance and being resilient, understanding that sometimes we need to strive and fail to master a new skill, such as riding a bike. We looked at the power of the word ‘yet’ to help us think about future challenges with a positive attitude – learning a new language is a great example!
It’s been a very busy and exciting week of sport at TPS, with numerous fixtures taking place for the girls and boys across the sports of netball, hockey and football. Indeed, with the extensive programme each week and the high number of teams we select, I am delighted to announce that we have just appointed Mr Simon Warmer to a permanent role as an additional Sports Coach at TPS; Mr Warmer will be a familiar face to the children already of course, having worked with the school over many years as an expert rugby coach and through supporting us with tournaments, fixtures and even residential trips.
I’d like to share news of some exciting sporting events this week focusing on our boys: for Year 3, our teams took part in their first ever tournament on Tuesday with great excitement at Surbiton, with everyone giving their all. There were many super performances on the day and, notably, a narrow loss in the final for our very promising U8 A team. I must also mention the success of the boys’ U11 A team who won the Bowl at the Danes Hill IAPS tournament on Tuesday, playing against some very high standard opposition. I’d also like to highlight the brilliant TPS U10 tournament that we hosted at Kempton on Wednesday, with every boy in Year 5 representing the school across the match schedule. The whole event was conducted in great spirit with excellent sportsmanship on display throughout and some very fine play, with our U10 A team narrowly losing in the final to Bishopsgate. Thank you to all of the sports staff for their hard work in organising all of these wonderful opportunities; we wish the U11 A girls the best of luck next week with their IAPS hockey event at Wellington College and those involved in the Aquathlon at Guildford High School tomorrow.

TPS Reception Entry September 2027

TPS Term Dates 2027-2028
TPS term dates for NEXT academic year, September 2027 – July 2028 are now published and available for your reference on our website: https://twickenhamprep.org.uk/term-dates/
Of course you will also find the previously published dates there for this current academic year, September 2026 – July 2027.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents of the process with regard to a request for term-time pupil leave. It is not school policy to grant leave for pupils in any year group to miss days of school for anything other than exceptional circumstances. School holiday dates are published very far in advance so that holidays can be booked early and within the generous timescale. Holidays outside of the school holiday periods are not condoned as the expectation is for all pupils to attend school during term time. Any request for exceptional pupil leave during term-time should be sent directly to the Headmaster in writing via email: head@twickenhamprep.co.uk, must be made well in advance and would be considered on a case-by-case basis.
