This week:

    Headmaster’s Update

Our second full week of term has seen the introduction of the clubs’ programme and it’s been fantastic to witness the children engrossed in a wide range of extra-curricular endeavours. I’m always struck by the variety of activities on offer, this term seeing clubs such as jewellery-making, padel, cheerleading and construction across Pre-Prep and Prep. We know that these optional experiences are the chance to learn new skills and collaborate with wider friendship groups, making the children feel that school reflects their interests and talents. For me, it was wonderful to accompany the girls and boys at football club for our first session on Hampton and Richmond FC’s brand new 3G pitch in the warm sunshine on Tuesday evening – a picture perfect moment!

A very strong feature of school life at TPS is the community aspect and this week saw us host the first Class Partnership sessions on Wednesday morning, with Prep and Pre-Prep classes matched up for fun and games at the start of the day. It was lovely to see the children make new friendships and establish bonds which will only strengthen and deepen in the months ahead. At the start of this week we launched the School Council nomination process, another great initiative that sees children across the age groups work collaboratively, so please do encourage your child to take part! In addition, we will be holding the evaluations for the senior positions of responsibility next week, always a highlight, to appoint these important roles for the year ahead.

The past fortnight has seen us host a number of ‘welcome’ events for parents, and last night it was wonderful to be present for an important information session and social for our Reception parents, overseen by Mrs Barnes, Miss McVey and Mrs Openshaw. As highlighted by my expert colleagues, it is within Reception that we endeavour to establish the children’s love of learning, independence and responsibility. By all accounts the children have made a fabulous start! It was a pleasure to see everyone and a treat to be hosted by our TPSC volunteers.

Finally, a huge thank you to all of the children, governors and parent volunteers who joined us last Saturday at our Open Morning event. It was fantastic to welcome prospective parents to see all that TPS has to offer and for the senior pupils to have the chance to conduct school tours and to showcase our departments.

    Well done, one and all!
