Headmaster’s Update
This first full week of the Autumn Term has seen us establish many of the routines which will help to make the forthcoming year successful. I know the children have really enjoyed experiencing their full timetables, including the swimming programme for Years 3 and 4, and meeting new teachers. It was great to welcome parents to the various Welcome Meetings throughout the week to help provide information on the curriculum and pastoral and practical matters, whilst having the chance to meet the academic staff. For those unable to attend, please do look out for the presentation information on My School Portal.
Our assembly programme this week has focused on the TPS value of being ‘Considerate’ looking at examples of acts of kindness and how thinking about others brings with it so many benefits, not least a sense of pride and the chance of reciprocation! In Pre-Prep the children have been sharing their exciting holiday news, teaching the other children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 about new places, people and experiences. We held our first House assembly on Wednesday, with the Heads of Houses launching a poetry competition for the Harvest Festival (Wednesday 8th October at St Mary’s Church – save the date!), on the theme of being ‘Considerate’. No doubt we will receive some truly fabulous and thought-provoking entries, so please do join us for the service later this term.
You may be interested to know that we’ve been made aware of an exciting opportunity at Hampton Court Palace for boys to take part in the annual boys’ Chorister Open Day on Saturday 4th October. The event for 7-9 year-olds includes a fun singing session with Hampton Court choristers, their Director of Music and Organist and a talk and information presentation for parents. The event culminates in a concert (sung by prospective choristers and the Hampton Court Palace choir) and a tea party. Finally, thank you very much indeed for endeavouring to park with due care and consideration in the first days of term. We’ve noted little parked traffic on the High Street, helping the flow on the surrounding roads, to everyone’s benefit.
Oliver Barrett, Headmaster

Year 5 & Year 6 Senior School Visits
As it’s now a time for Open Days at the various senior destination schools, we understand that some Year 5 and Year 6 pupils will be absent to attend entrance examinations, interviews and scholarship assessments.
Thank you to all the parents who message to let us know of such absences – either via MSP, phone or email. Please know that absence for making a senior school visit will always be permitted and so, although we need you to inform us of the absence in advance, you may assume that such absences are authorised so you won’t necessarily receive a reply.
Many thanks, as always, for your support.

A Warm Welcome Back from the Library!
Welcome back to a brand-new school year! We hope everyone had a restful and book-filled summer. The library is open and ready for another exciting term of reading, discovering, and sharing stories.

Just a few quick reminders:
Overdue Books:
If you’ve found any library books that managed to stay with you over the summer, please send them back in as soon as possible so other students can enjoy them too. No questions asked – we’re just happy to have them back!
Book Donations – Pre-Loved Stories Welcome:
Have your children outgrown some of their books? We’re always grateful for pre-loved children’s books in good condition. Donated books help keep our collection fresh and varied for all readers.
Birthday Books:
A lovely tradition at our school – why not celebrate your child’s birthday by donating a book to the library in their name? We’ll add a special bookplate inside the cover to mark the occasion. It’s a wonderful way to give back and share the joy of reading.
Summer Reading Challenge – Celebrate with Us!
Did your child take part in the Summer Reading Challenge over the holidays? If so, we’d love to celebrate their achievement! Please send in their certificate so we can recognise them in an upcoming celebration assembly. Well done to all our keen summer readers!
Looking forward to a fantastic term of reading adventures!
Happy Reading,
Mrs Haywood
