Headmaster’s Update
Over the past fortnight we have been blessed with a host of brilliant class and year group assemblies. Starting with Reception last week, Miss Chesney’s class were remarkably confident in delivering their assembly focused on themes of wildlife, growth and change. The children spoke so eloquently about their favourite animals and the things they have learned to help them prepare for the excitement of what lies ahead in Year 1. Transition and new beginnings were common themes for Year 6 this week too, with 6C and 6L delving into memory boxes brimmed full of experiences that have shaped their time at TPS. The girls and boys performed a choice range of songs too, with ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’ a firm favourite it seems! It is amazing to bear witness to the children’s personal journeys as they now ready themselves for the next chapter. We also loved 3M’s fabulous assembly on Wednesday all about the ancient Egyptian civilisation, demonstrating the children’s remarkable depth of knowledge, whilst also regaling the audience with practical demonstrations of pyramid building and the mummification process. Thankfully, no children or staff were harmed in the process!
On Monday, two of our Pre-Prep year groups travelled to Painshill Park, both braving the rain on a super day out. Year 2 explored the woodland, built dens and created artworks, whilst Reception headed off on a fairytale adventure, making mud faces and nature mobiles, along with the chance to explore the ruins. All the staff were incredibly impressed with the children’s creativity, teamwork and resilience. Over the past two weeks, our Year 6 cohort have experienced some very exciting trips too: Mr Howorth led a fascinating venture to the Imperial War Museum last Thursday, and this week the cohort tried some new sporting endeavours as part of our ‘Sports Sampling Sessions’, tackling dry-slope skiing at Sandown and climbing at the White Spider centre in Surbiton. The feedback from the children was really positive, with the hope of offering even greater variety to our sports programme for the girls and boys in Senior Prep next year. Closer to home, the Year 5 children produced fabulous South African-themed art with Mrs Kidson and Mrs Lintin on Wednesday, along with their participation in energetic Djembe drumming workshops to capture the essence of the studied literature. Even better was the fact that the whole school got to taste a host of South African cuisine at lunchtime, including bunny chow, mielies and malva pudding – yum!
This week also saw us welcome some very special guests to TPS: firstly, on Tuesday, we treasured seeing all the new boys and girls joining Reception this September, visiting us for the morning to get to know their new teachers and to enjoy time in the dedicated outdoor learning area. Only last night we welcomed two former pupils, Jack and Matthew, to speak to our Year 4 and Year 5 parents about their time at TPS and sincere enjoyment of Senior Prep; interestingly, they spoke very much about the lasting friendships they both made and the treasured relationships with the teaching staff. Finally, in a super finale today, the Pre-Prep welcomed guest grandparents to TPS, with a chance for our Year 2 children to share their projects and perform poems with their loved ones. Well done one and all!

Exciting Summer Activities for Children Aged 4–13
As the summer holidays approach, we are delighted to welcome a fantastic range of holiday clubs to Twickenham Prep School. Open to both Twickenham Prep pupils and children from the wider community, our summer programme offers a variety of engaging activities designed to keep children active, entertained and inspired throughout the holiday period.
Whether your child enjoys outdoor adventure, technology and innovation, sport, or creative arts, there is something to suit every interest. All clubs are delivered by experienced providers and make full use of our excellent facilities and extensive grounds.
For working parents, holiday clubs can provide flexible, high-quality childcare in a safe and well-supervised environment, while also giving children opportunities to make new friends, develop new skills and create lasting summer memories.

TPS Art Club offers a creative and calming environment where children can explore a wide range of artistic techniques. Summer Holiday Touch Typing Course at TPS
