Headmaster’s Update
With this first full week of term approaching its end, it’s been really impressive to witness the children settling so purposefully into the new routine. The start of the week saw the whole school focus on fire safety in our main assembly, looking at how to minimise fire risk and to understand the ‘fire triangle’, explaining why heat, fuel and oxygen are key components. The children and staff took part in a drill practice too, learning how to recognise the fire sounder and how to assemble safely outside.
We’ve been really impressed by all the new children starting across the year groups, but especially the new Reception children, who introduced themselves to Pre-Prep with great confidence in their first assembly with Mrs Barnes! It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements of so many children in Mr Edward’s ‘Celebration Assembly’ today, with awards shared for involvement in summer reading challenges, LAMDA success, music examinations achievements and sporting endeavours. It was also a pleasure to recognise so many children who have gone above and beyond in being ‘Considerate’ in the first fortnight, our chosen school value for the beginning of the school year.
Other gatherings this week have seen the four Houses have their first meetings to welcome new members of Apollo, Concorde, Firebird and Harrier and to launch our competitions related to the theme of ‘Water’, in preparation for Harvest. For the Pre-Prep, we invite the children to colour and decorate a water droplet, whilst the older children are invited to write a short poem – please see details later in this Bulletin and do encourage your child!
Thank you very much indeed to parents from Years 1 to 8 who attended our Welcome Meetings this week; we do hope that the information provided at the various events was helpful and instructive, giving you the opportunity to meet the form teachers for each year group and to form a strong partnership with the school this year. Please do access My School Portal (MSP) to reference the presentations, should you wish to see the content in detail.
Finally this week, I am sure you will be interested to read the latest review of TPS courtesy of the ‘Muddy Stilettos’ publication. We are very proud of the educational offering here at TPS and it was very pleasing to read this very positive externally validated review – see below a link to a little light reading for the weekend!

Welcome back to the Library!
Welcome Back to the Library!

A very warm welcome back to all our TPS families! I hope you have had a wonderful summer and are ready for another fantastic year of reading.
A special welcome to all our new pupils and families joining TPS this term. We are delighted to have your children with us, and I look forward to seeing them in the library and helping them discover lots of wonderful books!
A few library reminders:
Please return outstanding books
If your child has any library books at home from last term, please send them back to school as soon as possible. This helps ensure that our books are available for everyone to enjoy.
Lost or Misplaced Books
If your child has misplaced a library book or believe they may have lost it, we kindly ask parents to replace the book with the same title. Alternatively, with your agreement, we can charge the cost of the book to your next school bill so that we can purchase a replacement for the library.
Birthday Books
Our Birthday Book tradition is a lovely way to celebrate our pupils while adding new books to our school libraries. When your child has a birthday, they are invited to donate a book to the library. We will celebrate their special contribution during assembly, and a nameplate will be placed inside the book to recognise their birthday and generosity. It is a wonderful way for children to leave a lasting contribution to the library for others to enjoy.
Book Donations
We are always very grateful for donations of good-quality, age-appropriate children’s books that are suitable for our school libraries. If you have books at home that are no longer being read and you think they would be enjoyed by other TPS pupils, we would be delighted to receive them.
TPS Library Wish List on Amazon
Did you know that we still have a TPS Library Amazon Wish List? The list contains books that have been specially selected for our school libraries. If you would like to support the library, you can choose a book from the wish list to donate. Every book donated helps us to keep our collections fresh, exciting and relevant for our pupils. Follow the link to have a look at our Amazon wish list: https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/2FYOWG7QFWYKQ?ref_=abls_nvfly_yl
Thank you for your continued support of our school libraries.
Here’s to another year filled with wonderful books, exciting stories and lots of reading!
Happy reading!
