    Headmaster’s Update

Across the world today, communities are marking World Mental Health Day and at TPS we are marking this occasion by wearing yellow, a colour associated with good mental health because it symbolizes hope, optimism and happiness. It’s been fantastic to see the children and staff embrace this occasion in support of ‘Young Minds’, a charity that supports young people with their mental health by promoting wellbeing and providing a wide range of services and training. To find out more about this charity, please see here: Young Minds

This week has also seen us explore and promote Dyslexia Awareness Week, launched by our Head of Learning Support, Mrs Salt. In her very thought-provoking assembly on Monday, she highlighted the ‘super powers’ of dyslexic learners, such as problem solving, pattern identification and inventive thinking. We saw how each person with a dyslexic profile, including luminaries such as Mohammed Ali, Maggie Aderin-Pocock and Walt Disney, are all special and different. We strive at TPS to recognise and celebrate each others’ talents, whilst being supportive too, which links neatly to wellbeing and ensuring we are a happy community.

They say that ‘he who sings, prays twice’, and it was a pleasure to hear every child at TPS perform as part of our Harvest Festival at St Mary’s Church in Hampton on Wednesday morning. The service featured a host of readings, poems and songs, with the key messages being those relating to being thankful for the food we enjoy, along with a connection to our school value of being ‘considerate’, through thinking about others. Donations this year were made to the Hampton Hygiene Bank, a local charity with strong connections to the TPS family, for those who cannot easily afford hygiene essentials like soap, detergent and toothpaste.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the service and for your generosity to such a worthy cause.

    Harvest Festival – Thank you!

Thank you to all our families who donated much-needed toiletries to the Hygiene Bank. Our charity ambassadors, Emma, Harina and Ella did a sterling job collecting the items and delivering them to the Hygiene Bank in Hampton. Thank you to Mr Niehaus who drove the minibus.
We raised a total £ 181.48 in our retiring collection for the Hygiene Bank at the Harvest Festival church service.
