Curriculum

While the National Curriculum serves as the core of our programme here at Twickenham Prep School, we never lose sight of deeper opportunities for joyful, creative and holistic learning.

It’s all part of our unique approach which balances academic rigour with a passion for whole-child development, stretching the concept of success far beyond the classroom.

Our emphasis is in creating a thriving, happy environment through a broad curriculum, taught by dedicated and talented teachers – who nurture the children academically, socially, and emotionally.

Specialist Subject Teaching

In the early year groups, much of the teaching is delivered by class teachers supported by an assistant, ensuring that the children build strong relationships and learn to embrace school life. Along with the class teaching, we deliver specialist subject teaching from Reception onwards, including lessons in computing, French, games, library sessions, music, PE and Think Tank, a programme designed to develop strategic and tactical thinking through game play.

Dedicated Facilities

As the children move through the school, additional subject specialist teaching sessions are added, including art and design from Year 3, before all subjects are taught by specialists from Year 4 onwards.  We are lucky to have purpose designed teaching spaces, including our music centre, science laboratory, sports and drama hall and art and design studio, whilst our main sports ground is located at Kempton Cricket Club.

Our pupils regularly go on visits, tours, and – for our older children – residential field trips. We also host a huge variety of events, from junior workshops to visiting speakers, specialist sports training, concerts.

Above all, our small class sizes enable staff to offer support, enrichment and challenge to suit each pupil as they explore our wonderfully rich curriculum.
